As a job seeker, we do lack somethings or we are a step backward from what makes a job interview successful. Presenting yourself well mostly can be the difference between success and failure.
Failing a job interview is like receiving a real confidence blow which in turns might be hard to pick one's self up after the interview. In life, confidence is everything. When a job interview fails, we ask ourselves what did I lack that makes me fail the interview? Solution?
There is no solution rather than to avoid making any of the following mistakes.
1. Poor or bad preparation
Most of the interview fails due to poor preparation. Many job seekers don't go further in learning possible questions to be asked and the ways of answering them, knowing more about the establishment of the company and their impact in the society.
Once any question is asked during their interview, they keep mute because they did not have any idea of the question been asked which in turns build a wrong impression at the from of their interviewer.
2. Lateness to an interview
Being late to an interview is one of the reasons while interview fails. It directly gives the impression that the candidate is irresponsible and not ready for the job. No matter the excuses you might have, you must arrive early to an interview.
3. Inappropriate dressing
Our appearance speaks highly of us in any occasion. Physical appearance and personal hygiene are both important reasons why people fail job interview. Most candidate don't dress cooperate to interview, some is mainly because of their ignorance. This makes candidates loose their job interview because dressing speaks for how responsible we are.
4. Over-confident /nervousness
Interviewer sometimes expect candidates to be nervous and over confidence of one's self. Candidate will be the one to try and control it and not be too confident or the interviewer might build an impression of you not trusting yourself.If you don't trust yourself, you can't be trusted either.
5- Lack of clarity
Lack of clarity is exhausting, frustrating, and irritating for an interviewer. If one is not very clear enough on what we are bringing to the table for a particular job, the impression on the interviewer will be you not capable of any role in their company.
